About decades ago, there used to be only one airline company that operated flights to Tibet – Air China, also only one flight in a week for passengers to transfer to Tibet: Beijing-Chengdu-Lhasa. As the rapid development of the tourism industry and economy since 1980s, there have been more and more airlines operating flights to Tibet. Following are some major Tibet airlines companies which have the most frequent Tibet flight schedules, but also offer professional aviation services:

Sichuan Airlines

Sichuan Airlines isn’t one of the top 10 largest airlines in China, but the most important airline in southwestern China region, especially Sichuan, Yunnan and Tibet. It is headquartered in Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan Province. Its frequently-used airports include Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, Kunming Changshui International Airport, Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport, etc. Sichuan Airlines now has covered air traffic to 79 destinations with more than 190 routes. Currently it is the most popular airline which operates more than 20 flights to Tibet each day from Chengdu, Chongqing, Kunming, Xian, etc.

Tibet Airlines

Tibet Airline is the first high plateau aviation airline company in China. It was founded in July, 2011 with Lhasa Gonggar Internaitonal Airport as base. Tibet Airlines mainly serves for cities in Tibet, such as Lhasa, Ngari, Qamdo, Nyingchi, etc., also provides flights connecting Tibet with cities in western China, such as Chengdu, Kunming, Yushu, Xining, etc. Most of its planes are new and well-amenitied Airbus A319, A320 and A330. Currently it operates daily flights between Lhasa and Chengdu, Chongqing, Kunming, Xian, etc.

Air China

The Air China is one of the most important airlines in China, based in Beijing Capital International Airport. Firstly it operates flights to most parts of China from west to east, south to north. Secondly it is widely connected to the global world. Travelers can take flights of Air China to Beijing, Shanghai, and other cities in China from over 50 international cities and regions. As for flights to Tibet, the Air China provides flights which connecting Lhasa with Beijing, Xian, Shanghai, Chongqing, Chengdu, Kathmandu, etc.

China Eastern Airlines

As for flights to Tibet, this company usually operates air routes from Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xian, Chongqing, Kunming, Lijiang to Lhasa, and Urumqi to Ngari.

China Southern Airlines

China Southern Airlines, with headquarter in Guangzhou, is one of “Big Three of China Aviation”. The other two are the Air China and China Eastern Airline. Compared with other airlines in the globe, China Southern Airlines’ annul volume of passenger transport ranks the first in Asia and the third in the world. It is also the first airline which operates Airbus A380 and Boeing 787 simultaneously. As for flights to Tibet, China Southern Airlines mainly operates Tibet flights from Guangzhou.

Shenzhen Airlines

Shenzhen Airlines was founded in Shenzhen, the rapidly-growing new China metropolis. Since its establishment in 1992, this airline has kept a record of 14 years’ safe flying as well as a record of 13 years’ constant profitability. By the end of 2015, Shenzhen Airlines has created a fleet of more than 170 passenger aircrafts, including Boeing 737s, Airbus 320s and 319s. Its air traffic has reached more than 200 domestic and international routes. As for flights to Tbiet, Shenzhen Airlines usually provides flights which depart from Shanghai, Xian, Chongqing to Tibet. It also runs flights between Nyingchi and Lhasa, Ngari and Lhasa.
